Firmness of the 90x200 Children's Mattress

The firmness of a children’s mattress is often indicated by an “H” rating. The higher the H-value, the firmer the mattress.

  • H1 for a soft mattress
  • H2 for medium firmness
  • H3 for a firm mattress
  • Occasionally, H4 and H5 ratings are also used

These classifications are not strictly standardised, so an H3 mattress from one brand may feel different to an H2 mattress from another—similar to how clothing sizes can vary by brand.

For 90x200 mattresses suited to teen beds, Petite Amélie offers two cold foam options:

HR cold foam mattresses (90x200 cm) are made of open-cell material, which allows for excellent moisture wicking and temperature regulation. They are durable, supportive, and offer great value for money—making them one of the most popular choices.

Petite Amélie’s HR cold foam mattresses are made in the EU, with OEKO-TEX certified materials. Both the filling and the removable cover, which is washable at 60°C, meet high safety and hygiene standards.

Mattress for High Sleepers

For high sleeper beds, we recommend the Petite Amélie pocket spring mattress (90x200 cm) with a built-in wooden frame. This type of mattress provides excellent ventilation and spring support, similar to those found in hotel beds—hence often called “box spring” mattresses.

Since high sleepers usually don’t have a slatted base, a mattress with an integrated frame offers better support across the entire length and width of the bed.

Zoned 90x200 Children's Mattresses

For added comfort, some children's mattresses are divided into zones. Softer zones are placed at the shoulders and hips, with firmer support in the middle. Typically, these mattresses feature seven zones to ensure consistent comfort, even if the mattress is rotated.
